Gökhan Kaya

Born in Bitlis in 1988, Gökhan Kaya completed his primary and secondary education there. He graduated in Environmental Engineering from Akdeniz University in 2013. During his undergraduate studies, he served on the organising committees of numerous national and international programmes. In 2009, he became the founding president of the Ecology Society, through which he implemented environmental projects. He also served as founding president of civil society organisations including the Youth and Development Association and the Ecology Society, organising panels, conferences, talks, exhibitions and congresses.
In 2013, he conducted research on water footprints and water scarcity at the Technical University of Braunschweig with a DAAD scholarship. In 2015, with a Ministry of National Education scholarship in Negotiation Techniques under International Conventions, he pursued a master’s degree in Public Administration at the University of Alabama in the United States. During his studies, he served as president of the Turkish student association. He returned to Türkiye in 2020 and works in the Department of External Relations, Training and Research at the General Directorate of Forestry.
